Peels are also formulated individually to be their own specific strength- but not every client wants to receive the same depth of peel. Every client deserves their own peel and their own custom treatment to their concerns, their schedule, and their lifestyle.

When it comes to performing any treatment or service for your clientele, chemical peels are the number-one way to offer the most variety in your treatment room. Chemical peels are going to remedy one of 3 things: acne, pigmentation, or aging. Some peels relieve multiple concerns, but most peels will just focus on one condition. Peels are also formulated individually to be their own specific strength- but not every client wants to receive the same depth of peel. Every client deserves their own peel and their own custom treatment to their concerns, their schedule, and their lifestyle. This makes it so important to know how to mix and match your treatments to cater to every single client you see. The best way to be able to customize your services is by cocktailing your chemical peels! This will allow you to not only offer custom treatments, but to also make your backbar seem bigger than it really is. Who would say no to that?! Now the question is how do I do this? The most important rule of thumb to follow with cocktailing chemical peels is if you mix an active ingredient with an active ingredient, the mixture will be more active. If you mix a non-active ingredient with an active ingredient, the mixture will be less active. This is good to know when you want to bump up or buffer down the aggression of a chemical peel. Using this rule to your advantage is the number one way to make your backbar seem bigger than it really is and will give you the ability to truly customize your services for each and every client. Men's and women’s skin is very different. Even the composition of men’s skin is different from women’s skin. Men’s skin is 25% thicker, even the texture is thicker and tougher than women’s skin. Men have significantly higher amounts of the androgen hormone which is what causes oiliness in the skin. This causes larger pore size as well as longer lasting acne in post pubescent males. Sadly enough for women, men also have much thicker collagen and elastin fibers in their skin, regardless of age the collagen density is much higher. The breakdown of collagen happens much slower in men’s skin therefore slowing the aging process significantly. It has been said that women’s skin is about 15 years older than the skin of a man that is the same age. However, men are not as good at applying sunscreen so that tends to help make up the difference in skin age. It is important that as you give treatments and recommend home care regimens for men to think about the best ways to help them get the best care possible. These day’s men are starting to care more and more about their skin.  The key to working with male clients is keeping it simple. Here at GlyMed Plus we have formulated the perfect and simple system of products FOR MEN. There is only one product for each step of the GlyMed Plus 4 step system, Cleanse: Essential Face Cleanser, Treat: Essential Shave Cream, Balance: Post Shave Anti-Aging Recovery Balm, and Protect: Oil-Free Protective Moisturizer SPF 15. All of the products come in very easy to use pop-top squeeze bottles and have a nice masculine scent. The Essential Face Cleanser is a nice gel consistency cleanser that foams up to remove the excess oil that builds up on men’s skin. It is also very calming, firming, and helps to prepare the skin for an enhanced shaving experience. The Essential Shave Cream is a favorite for both men and women. This amazing formula will actually help to soften and lift up the hair to be shaved, allowing for a closer and less irritating shave. This is the perfect product to protect that sensitive neck skin from razor burn. The Post Shave Anti-Aging Recovery Balm is the perfect balm to calm the skin after shaving. This product is a must use on the neck for men because that skin is particularly sensitive when shaving. It also contains peptides that will firm and tighten the skin, leaving the skin with an overall smooth appearance, making it a favorite for both men and women. Even if men are not shaving we recommend using this product daily because it has great anti-inflammatory benefits that will help support healthy skin. Lastly, the Oil-Free Protective Moisturizer SPF 15 is an FDA approved, broad-spectrum sunscreen. This acts as a sunscreen and a moisturizer which is great to keep it nice and simple for men. This sunscreen has a mattifying effect so this one is also used by a lot of women that have oily skin. With these four simple steps you can rest easy knowing that the men in your clientele have all of the tools necessary to care for their skin, and proper protection from the sun.

As the seasons change and we move into the colder months, many people will experience more than just nice rosy cheeks. These cold months can also bring dryness, flaking, irritation, cracking, and even eczema to the skin.

As the seasons change and we move into the colder months, many people will experience more than just nice rosy cheeks. These cold months can also bring dryness, flaking, irritation, cracking, and even eczema to the skin. Moving between the cold and windy outdoors to the warm and inviting indoors can cause your skin to immediately begin drying out. With the aggressive temperature changes, it’s no wonder your skin is having a hard time.

Using these 5 Simple Steps will help you heal, prevent, and protect against winter skin damage.

1. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Moisturizers that work great during the spring and summer months may not work as well during the harsh winter months. Switch to a heavier moisturizer and make sure you’re using products containing hyaluronic acid and AHAs, as these ingredients will help attract and bind water to the skin. Be on the lookout for moisturizers that are heavy, but non-comedogenic (won’t clog your pores). An oil-based moisturizer is another good option because it will not only hydrate your skin, but it also gives your skin an extra layer that works like a protective barrier against the elements. The best moisturizer for combination skin is Master Aesthetics Elite Vitamin C Cream from GlyMed Plus. If you have dry skin, layer Amino Acid Epidermal Sealant with PC10 to seal in the optimum moisture.

2. Drink more water. Seems simple enough, right? Drinking lots of water should be a habit that we practice every day but especially in the winter months. The skin is our largest organ and, just like other parts of the body, is made up of different cells. These cells are partly made up of water! Without proper hydration, our body won’t function properly and supply the skin with the essential tools it needs to stay strong and healthy. Staying hydrated also affects the overall health of your skin – ensuring that it stays youthful and radiant.

3. Help out your hands. The skin on your hands is much thinner than the skin on the rest of your body; and it contains fewer oil glands. Many people experience extreme drying and cracking on their hands during the winter months. Make sure you are using a heavy cream at night, and it isn’t a bad idea to slip on some hydrating gloves to sleep in as well. Carry a moisturizing cream with you during the day and make sure to reapply that lotion whenever you feel like you need it, and always after washing your hands. GlyMed Plus Hand & Body Lotion contains the perfect amount of moisture without leaving your hands feeling greasy. When you go outside, wear dry gloves to protect that thinner skin from the wind and the cold. Putting wet/damp gloves on already dry, irritated skin will exacerbate the issue.

4. Don’t go unprotected. Sunscreen isn’t just for summertime. Make sure that you’re slathering on your SPF at least 20 minutes before you go outside. People don’t realize what damage the sun can do even if you can’t see it. UVA rays still penetrate through on cloudy days, and these are the scariest rays! Think about the “A” in “UVA” as standing for “aging”. These are the rays that penetrate the deepest into your skin and cause the signs of aging such as lines, wrinkles, sagging, and loss of collagen and elastin. Even though you can’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t doing some serious damage. The sun can also reflect off of the snow up to 80%! Make sure to apply GlyMed’s Photo-Age Environmental Sun Protectors before you step out for the day.

5. Book a facial. Now is the perfect time to go and visit your aesthetician. They will be able to do a full analysis of your skin and provide you with a wonderful, hydrating treatment and fantastic home care products to help battle and repair your winter skin. Seek out a professional who uses a Pharmaceutical or Medical grade skin care line, as that will guarantee you are getting the highest grade, best quality, and most effective products. This time of year is also the perfect time to get started on a chemical peel series since the sun isn’t as strong as during the summertime. Chemical peels are great for removing that dull, built-up layer of dead skin cells, as well as hydrating and evening out your skin tone. Chemical peels will also create micro-channels in your skin which will aid in making your home care products more effective as they will penetrate deeper into the skin. Always make sure that you’re protecting your skin after a chemical peel.

Winter skin is one of the biggest beauty issues we face, but there are so many ways to fix it! By following these 5 simple steps you will see a world of difference and help to create a more glowing, hydrated, and comfortable winter skin.
