Debunking the truth behind fragrance in skincare
Fragrance. That forbidden “f word” in the Aesthetic Industry that we all hear. Allow me to clear the air and ease your worried mind. At GlyMed Plus, our goal is to not only give the BEST continuing education but to also provide the BEST quality products. We achieve this by using the highest quality ingredients, including essential oils for their therapeutic compounds. Although you may see the word "fragrance" listed on the ingredient deck of some of our products, rest assured it is a high-quality therapeutic grade essential oil. We do not use Synthetic Fragrances in our products. GlyMed Plus is required by the FDA to list any essential oil used for its scent in a product as a “fragrance” on the label. PHEW!!! I told you I'd ease your worried mind, didn't I? Essential Oils are great additions to any formula, however, they are not all created equal. There are different qualities of essential oils and they are typically separated into four different grades:
Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils (These are what we use!)
The highest grade of essential oils
100% pure and unadulterated (not diluted or mixed with another element)
Contain therapeutic compounds
Natural (Organic) and Certified Oils
Pass oil-standard tests, but contain fewer or no therapeutic compounds
Extended and Altered Oils
Fragrance grade | Often used in perfumes
Oils are extended through the addition of synthetic compounds and/or chemicals
Synthetic Oils
Created in a laboratory
Do not contain any pure oils
Frequently used in health and beauty products
